Waihopai Bluesticks
lost to Otatara in a hard fought game. Our goal was
scored by Josh Davies and Hannah Chatfield played
awesome defence as goalie. Player of the Day
Jenna Moynihan for great tackling and
continually chasing the ball. No practice
and no games next week.

Black Sticks a bye
SOUTHLAND REPRESENTATIVE HOCKEY TEAMS
We have 5 talented Waihopai School students representing
Southland in hockey.
Lachlan Graham
(year 6) is the goalie for the Boys Hatch Cup team.
This is a national tournament to be played in Auckland
during September. Well done to Lachlan as this team has
players up to year 8.
Emma Ryan
(year 6) is a reserve player of the Collier Girls
national tournament, to be held in Timaru during
September. Well done Emma, as this team is also open up
to year 8.
Jenna Moynihan
(year 6), Emma Ryan (year 6), Hannah Chatfield
(year 5) and Bailey Bishop (year 5), are all in
the Girls Festival of Hockey squad, to be held in
Ashburton in October.
Congratulations and good luck
to all our talented hockey players. A big “thank
you” to the fantastic coaches who have helped to
get them there.

Waihopai Rebels lost to St
Johns. Player of the Day Madison McKenzie
for making great space. Player of the Season Elly
Koehler. Well done to the whole team for great
improvement throughout the season.

Waihopai Swifts beat Myross
Bush 5 – 2. An awesome effort by everyone! A great way
to finish the season girls. Well done, you have all
improved so much. Players of the Day – “The
Entire Team”.
Congratulations to
the Waihopai Swifts team for a great season. The
girls made huge improvements and worked well together on
Tuesday to achieve their first win, on their final
game. Many thanks also to Jo Smith for coaching
and managing the girls.

Waihopai Flames beat Donovan
Blue 4 – 2. Excellent court work and positional play.
Well done to the whole team who have shown massive
improvement this year, and who have only lost twice all
season. Player of the Day Molly Haywood for excellent
passing and moving into the space.
